Blogging for Extra Money: Turn Writing and Posting to a Stream of Income
Many of you have been hired by me to do odd jobs like posting ads for me on classified websites, but today I wanted to share with you how to make more money than the 10 to 30 cents I would normally pay for you to post those ads.
In fact, what I am going to share with you is how to earn money not one time, but over and over again for as long as you keep what I am going to suggest you build. Best of all, you can do what I am going to suggest in your spare-time, from the comfort of your home and for zero out of pocket expense.
First, what I am suggesting you do is to start a blog about a topic that you know something about. Blogs are quite simply a website that has a fill-in-the-blank interface for making web pages. I think of mine as a journal format of a website myself. As you become more knowledgeable about blogs, you will see that there are quite a few ways to earn money with your blog, but I will be sharing with a very easy way to earn money and that is with Google AdSense.
Google AdSense are advertisements that you can put on your website that when someone clicks on it, you get paid a small fee… very similar to the fee I would pay you for posting an ad for me. It is not unusual to see 10 cents to 30 cents for a click.
So, the most simple way I can explain this is: you create a blog (for free), you write a little about something you know about, people come to the site (maybe from you posting an ad to your blog like what you have posted for me), and if they click on the Google AdSense ad you get paid just like you would get paid from me for posting the ad. Except there is one big difference…
Once you write and post it to the blog, it is there for as long as you keep the blog (and it is free to keep the blog). People can come and read what you wrote over and over and if they are clicking on the ad, then you are getting paid over and over.
Now, will you make $10,000 a month from Google AdSense? I have, but you will very likely need to write more than just one page for your blog. Each page that you create has the potential to become a stream of income… a dime here, a quarter there each week.
So, to get started here are your action steps:
1. Register for your own blog. I recommend blogger.com owned by Google. It is free and easy to use.
2. Write about something you know and love.
3. Sign up for Google AdSense at adsense.google.com and place ads on your blog. It is easy with blogger.com because Google owns both of them.
4. Place ads, like the ones you have been posting for me, to get people to go to your blog.
5. Continue to learn about blogging and how to earn more from your blog by reading articles, books and other blogs.
I hope that this will be the start of a very profitable venture for you and I would love to see your blog when you start it, so be sure to contact me to announce its official launch.
Until my next post,
James
