Visualization and How It Helps Achieve Goals
I use a white board in my home office to jot down ideas, organize my plans for the day and keep me focused on the most important things to do in my life and business.
One of the things on my white board for today is a promise I made to Bob in my Mastermind group. Bob and I met on Tuesday for lunch to discuss Chapter 3 of “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. The promise I made to Bob was about the second part of the Self-Confidence Formula that is discussed in Chapter 3. It reads:
Second: I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality; therefore, I will concentrate my thoughts for 30 minutes daily, upon the of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture.
This reminds me a lot of a similar concept from Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz and one that I promised Bob I would start to implement at our meeting on Tuesday.
So, as soon as I finish writing this, I am going to begin creating a list of bullet points of the things that I want to see myself becoming or doing.
From that bullet list, I will then record an audio of myself reminding me of these things and listen to this to “walk myself through the process daily”.
The idea is that if I have a guided tour everyday hitting every single idea I can focus on each idea and visualize myself doing it over and over again. If I find myself wanting to add or remove something, I can modify my bulleted list and re-record the audio.
By visualizing myself becoming and doing those things, it will help me achieve my goals.
Until my next post,
James
